Dorothy (Dos) Braisted, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Born on Staten Island, she later relocated to Georgia in 2022. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie, grandson, Gabriel, parents, all four siblings, a nephew, a niece, and the father of her children, George M Braisted. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela and Cynthia, along with six grandchildren: Philip, Tracy, Dana, Adrienne, Michael, and Christopher. Charles J. Ferrari, 62, of Branchburg, NJ, formerly of Staten Island, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Staten Island, he worked as an operations manager at BNY Mellon in New York City for 38 years. Charles was an active member of his community, involved with local support groups and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed crafting, especially candle making, and cherished family time, eagerly awaiting the arrival of his second grandchild. Charles is survived by his wife Jacqueline, three children, and beloved granddaughter Sofia. Family held the utmost importance for Charlie, and he cherished his role as grandfather. Born and raised in Mariner’s Harbor, Marie resided in Eltingville before settling in Bay Terrace for 47 years. In 2003, she moved to Bohemia, N.Y., to be closer to her family. Marie worked for the Gulf Oil Corporation from 1953 to 1961 and later for the Mobil Oil Corporation in the Office of the General Counsel. She became a stay-at-home mom in 1970, devoting her time to her family. Marie enjoyed spending winters in Naples, Fla., creating and cooking original recipes, and traveling to Italy and France with her goddaughter and cousin. She was a dedicated member of St. Charles R.C. Church in Oakwood for 47 years, as well as St. John Nepomucene R.C. Church (Bohemia, N.Y.) and St. Elizabeth Seton R.C. Church (Naples, Fla.). Marie is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Marie Appignani (Vitacca), and her husband of 50 years, George Grumo. Michael “Mike” Joseph Aquino, 68, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, surrounded by family during their travels in Scotland. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, children Thomas, Kathryn, and Lauren, grandchildren Joseph, Isaac, Theresa, and James, sister Elisa, and extended family. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 1, 1955, Mike was the eldest child of Thomas and Marie Aquino. He co-founded Alpha/Omega Coverage Corp in 1979, embodying values of respect and fairness in business. An adventurous traveler and photographer, Mike’s mantra, “Vade Loca et Vora Res” (“Go places and eat things”), epitomized his zest for life. He cherished moments with loved ones and spent summers sailing in Tuckerton, NJ. Mike’s final days in England and Scotland were filled with scenic beauty and cherished family time, reflecting his love for adventure and family.
